Back from Bangkok.
First piece of news when I arrived,
is the collapse of Nicoll Highway at 3:30pm.
Up till now, 1 worker had died, and 3 other still missing. =\
At that time I was still gazing out the window of the plane.
Wondering if we would have a safe landing.
How things could change in a matter of seconds, huh…
But we can never be sure.
Started on this post on a slightly heavy note.
But well lemme sum up what I have seen and learnt,
on my little venture to Bangkok, with me and myself for company.
I’ve seen…
> … for myself how Chatuchak market looks like now, not as “chat” as I tot.
But it is really very hot there. Almost roasted in BKK as a whole.
> … that there’s a BIG “Taxi-Meter” sign sitting on top of the licensed cabs.
> … the motorcycle taxi drivers actually wears some official orange vest.
But always see them standing ard, not actually driving ppl ard.
> … a Thai sailor, wearing a REAL sailor’s outfit. COOL!
> … Pat Pong the Red-Light District, with the girls sitting outside. Chioz!
> … a Thai movie trailer, Godzilla-genre, with a giant eagle emerging from the front of Mah Boon Khrong Centre. Wondering how they shot that anyway, cos I realise the front is already covered by skytrain tracks.
> … a movie = “50 First Dates” at MBK’s cinema (just 100bht), nice seats, nice dolby stereo trailers (SG trailers usually stereo niah!)!
> … that their equivilant of KBox might be this SF Music City thingy,
where songs r dispensed in a vending machine like environment. But nice clear cylinders and food where the people can sing karaoke inside there! 20bht/song… Quite ex leh… =\ considering I sing alot :X Heh heh.
> … their BTS Skytrain stations are much longer than their 3-carriage trains. Is this is for accomodating the bad braking skills of the drivers?
> … their tight army uniforms, someone shld be drooling right now -_-
I’ve learnt that…
> … apart from e fast food places, they usually collect payment after u finish eating… Malu la, I keep asking pay where or ask how much, only to be replied with lost/embarrassed expressions… =\
> … I might look like Thai girl anyway. They keep speaking to me in Thai, until I ask, “How much?” I shld learn some Thai now… -_-”’
> … Thai girls are smaller than average Singapore girls,
you rarely see a plump Thai girl around. I feel like a sofa in e streets.
> … their bra sizes go way down to 65A=70A! They must hv really small rib-cages or I am jus FAT. I can barely find my size… sianz! The bras are not much cheaper, considering I dun wear expensive bras like Triumph n Wacoal. So yeah I only bought 1 bra. Plus their designs din catch my attention that much wor.
> … they have really nice kuey tiao soup at the roadside stalls. WOOT!
> … the Thais really respect their king, before the movie starts, all of the theatre-goers have to stand up during a quite awfully made video of him, shown just right before the movie. This is NEW.
> … it’s good staying at Asia Hotel that’s linked to the Ratchatewi stn, just one stop away from the main Siam stop (where all the Siam Sq n MBK are), 2-3 stops away from Sala Deung (where Pat Pong is), 6 stops from Mor Chit (where Chatuchak is)… NOT BAD at all!
> … getting a one-day trip ticket is worth it at 100bht, unlimited use, you can actually shop at Chatuchak, carry things back to hotel, chill out from the heat, go out n shop some more, with no cost at all!
> … Tuk tuks are not as common a sight as I thought.
> … I was really happy to type on a keyboard once more in a tiny shop in MBK on Monday evening. 15bht/30mins.
I have never watched so much MTV Asia in my entire life. Ahahaha!
But at least I had a good lifestyle!
Sleep early, wake up early for hotel breakfast!
Back to SG = back to sleep late, wake up late… -_-
But I enjoyed the solitude, the roaming, running free thingy I experienced there. With no one to wait for. With no one to answer to.
With no one to fight with me for bathroom.
I might go out and roam by myself again.
Next destination: Koh Samui or Krabi. Perhaps.
