Diet Day 1.
Like I have mentioned, I am going on the South Beach Diet and phase 1 starts today. The first meal of the morning has already proved to be a hard issue to settle. Where on earth in Singapore sells food without carbohydrates in the morning? Nothing noodle, nothing bread, nothing rice etc etc etc. Where to find? In the end I had 2 half-boiled eggs with a teaspoon of dark soya sauce and pepper, and a big cup of soya drink. That was 9am. At 10:30am my stomach was crying for food already.
The South Beach Diet food list to the rescue! It says that I am REQUIRED to have mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks, to prevent me from overeating during meals. Only certain food are allowed. Like nuts. I can either have 30 pistachio nuts or 15 dry, roasted almond or, 8 Macadamia nuts and so on. Just that teeny little amount. And a pack of those things aren’t cheap alright! I just found out that my office pantry has a new tin of the yummiest chocolate waffle biscuits. I am so sad.
And lunch was a bowl of pathetic fish soup without rice. Went to Raffles’ “IOC VIPs Stay Here So You Cannot Drive In” City to stock up on my yearly supply of Laneige skin care as well as a pack of Fancl’s Perfect Slim tablets. Spent $200 on these objects of vanity and I am feeling the strain of my newly acquired rosey card already.
AAARRRGGGHHHHH!!!! My colleague who introduced the South Beach Diet to me just strolled into the office with a box of the famous brownies he baked! He even has the cheek to tell me that the diet starts TOMORROW! WTF WTF WTF! HELP! SAAAAAVVEEEE MEEEEEE!!!! I am seriously going crazy.
More later. *eyeing the box of brownies*
Update @ 7:49pm:
Day 1 of South Beach Diet: FAILED!
I became slightly delirious during dinner time. I couldn’t stop thinking about rice and pasta and everything else. I gave in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ate half a small bowl of rice with sliced pork soup. I should stay off the processed meat ball but I was too hungry the whole day to care now. -_- Crash diets won’t work for me. Sobs. I became really nutty ok! I was raving like a lunatic. I guess I will cut out the carbohydrates in stages rather than a whack it thing. I couldn’t work the whole day, was too hungry to think and do anything sensible.
Time to reflect on myself. Haiz. Sorry Ragdoll, wo bu ke yi bu chi fan! You don’t give in and eat your black pepper crab ah!

I found a website that sells muffins and brownies and cookies that are extremely low carb (1-2) and taste exactly like something you good get fresh from bakery. The muffins are limited to topping the blueberries on top so I think dry out abit in baking, but the muffins themselves are wonderful. Soft, moist, tasty. You really can’t tell the difference and I buy their toppings to go things and my favorite things are low carb ice cream in between a couple cookies for an ice cream sandwich, a brownie with lc ice cream on it and one of their ice cream toppings or the muffins with their blueberry syrup (heat the muffin up like they tell you and put that on top with some whipped topping). I am telling you this place is the best. I wouldn’t brag on them so much but they always take time to give suggestions when I crave something and I have lost 100lbs. now. You know those low carb mashed potatoes? The ones made with cauliflower…they suggested I leave out salt and put in some parmesan, add alot of butter and pepper and they are so much better now. If you don’t like parmesan they suggested using 1/2 milk and 1/2 chicken broth to give it a more covering flavor over the cauliflower(cauliflower isn’t my favorite thing, but I like them now and even fry them in patties with an egg mixed in for like a hashbrown). OH yeah I almost forgot the website is thisnthatstuff.net
